A primary reading scheme from Oxford University Press, known for splitting difficulty into numbered stages.
Stories with recurring characters grow gradually in vocabulary and sentence length. Because the stages are numbered, it is easy to see roughly where a child stands.
The value of a staged scheme is less the order itself than the admission that children start in different places: you begin at a reading level, not an age.
