An umbrella term for machines doing work that used to require human judgement, perception or creation.
Artificial intelligence is a broad label, not one technique. It covers early systems whose rules were written by hand and today's machine learning, which finds rules in data.
What products call AI today is usually machine learning, and most often deep learning: finding objects in a photo, turning speech into text, continuing a piece of writing.
In education what matters is not whether AI was used but what improved: a child meeting words through a photo of their own room, or hearing a book in a parent's voice.
